Objective and Background
The objective of Phase 1 was to establish a controlled-environment production facility for protected vegetable cultivation. From a technical perspective, this phase created the first backbone of the project: greenhouse structure, heating infrastructure, irrigation, climate control and crop-support systems.

Key Challenges

Key Challenges
The key challenge in Phase 1 was to develop a reliable technical base under Russian climatic conditions, where heating capacity, snow load, climate stability and operational continuity are essential.
A second challenge was future-proofing. The first phase needed to allow later expansion without creating technical bottlenecks in energy, water, logistics or greenhouse layout.

Scope of Horti XS
Scope of Horti XS
Scope of Horti XS
For a phase like this, the Horti XS scope would typically relate to greenhouse engineering, technical coordination and integration of the core cultivation systems: structure, heating, climate, irrigation and internal layout.
If Horti XS was directly involved, this phase can be described as Horti XS helping to establish the technical foundation on which the later expansion phases could build.

Result and Value Delivered
Result and Value Delivered
Result and Value Delivered
Phase 1 delivered the initial production engine of the Lukhovitsy project. It created the first operational greenhouse area and laid the technical groundwork for scaling the site into a much larger high-tech vegetable complex.

A major 30.8-hectare expansion of the Lukhovitsy complex, complemented by a 19,000 m² distribution centre for large-scale fresh produce operations.
A 7-hectare glass cultivation facility dedicated to intensive cucumber production, combining protected growing with precise resource and climate management.
